um, really nice drawing. The caterpillar feller’s expression is quite good, as well as Paigienper (the one with the witch hat with the bell on the end). The use of blue Line art for the figures more in the background was a cool choice, and on the subject of blue, something about the angle in which Jumbi was drawn is really appealing. All the different shapes, patterns, and colors on the presents make them more interesting, and the tree under which they sit is really detailed looking. The snow effect across the whole page is good too.

I can tell that you thought about the personalities/vibes of the characters when drawing them, with Paige playfully hiding behind the tree and sniff getting an ornament stuck under his nose. Dairy and Eclair staring and the tree me not really doing anything was the correct choice I think. And Joe, although I don’t really think he would be the type to stare at his phone, is doing a joe-ish thing by not really paying attention to the holiday fun. The way you altered the outfits of the characters for the cold is pretty cool, but I think it’s funny that the two central characters were already designed for the cold anyway. I appreciate you using a character I literally never draw anymore (eclair) considering she was one of the first characters I drew on NG, and Rat Car, which I’ve literally only ever drawn twice. I also like Jumbi’s square Mohawk.

Erm, on to the bad stuff.

You weren’t really very brave with the shading here with Dairy and Eclair. Considering the only light source here is the tree, it should be a lot darker behind them. In general the levels of shade that you gave characters feels kind of arbitrary. To me Joe’s hair is shaded pretty dark, but Mrs. K has no shading and only highlights. I get rat car though, since you wouldn’t be able to see it if you shaded it. The presents under the tree don’t have very accurate shading, and none of the characters have shadows. Maybe Officer Dairy is some kind of milk vampire, but the rest of them should have shadows.

To an extent the colors are off, which is probably partially you taking artistic liberties, but I’ll point them out anyway. Jumbi’s lips are supposed to be red, the other oranges aren’t yellow enough, and the blue you used is too dark. This applies to the jumbo’s blue as well. Joe’s eyes are pink/purple. I actually like how you changed the orange on sniffs hair. Paige’s hair should be about the same color as sniff’s skin.

Anatomy wise, Dairy and Eclair look off. I’m also curious as to what Paige’s right hand is doing, because it should probably also be on the tree. I can assure you that Jumbo never skips leg day. Character wise, he’s a grumpy ass who never smiles. He’s got a scowl that rivals joes, except at least Joe isn’t constantly angry.

Overall, I like the drawing. It’s really good and I betcha we’ll draw for each other again next year too.

But just because you also drew that bee in the corner, I’m removing half a star you rat bastard.
